Biometric Payments

Biometric payments refer to a secure method of conducting transactions that uses unique biological characteristics of an individual to authenticate their identity. This method of payment leverages biometric data—such as fingerprints, palm prints, facial recognition, or iris scans—to verify the user's identity, often eliminating the need to manually enter payment credentials such as PINs or passwords.

In a biometric payment system, the individual’s biometric data is linked to their payment accounts or credit card details. When making a purchase, the payment terminal or device will scan the customer’s biometric feature to confirm identity and authorize the transaction. This process not only enhances security by ensuring that only the legitimate account holder can make the payment but also streamlines the transaction process, making it faster and more convenient for users.

Biometric payments are increasingly popular in various sectors, including retail and banking, due to their enhanced security features and the ability to provide a seamless customer experience. As technology advances, the use of biometrics in payment systems is expected to become more widespread, offering a higher level of security and efficiency in financial transactions.
