Cardholder
The term "cardholder" refers to an individual to whom a bank or financial institution has issued a credit or debit card. Generally, the cardholder is also the customer who utilizes the card for various transactions, such as purchasing goods or services. However, in instances of fraudulent activity, the person conducting the fraud (the customer in this context) misuses the card without the authorization of the cardholder. In such scenarios, the true cardholder becomes the victim of fraud and may initiate a chargeback process. This procedure allows the cardholder to dispute unauthorized transactions and seek to recover funds that were illicitly withdrawn or used, thereby offering a protective measure against financial loss due to fraudulent activities.
