Sale

In the context of payment processing, a "Sale" transaction refers to a specific type of financial transaction supported by payment gateways like Signio. This transaction type is used to authorize and simultaneously settle a payment. When a sale transaction is initiated, the payment gateway processes the customer's payment information, obtains authorization from the credit card issuer or bank, and completes the transfer of funds from the customer's account to the merchant's account.

A sale transaction is commonly used in retail environments where the goods or services are delivered immediately upon payment, such as in grocery stores, restaurants, or online stores where immediate payment confirmation is necessary. This contrasts with other types of transactions such as "Authorize Only" where the authorization for a payment is obtained but the funds are not immediately settled, allowing for adjustments to the transaction amount before final settlement.

The ability to process a sale transaction efficiently is crucial for merchants as it ensures that funds are secured for the goods or services provided, minimizing the risk of payment disputes and facilitating smoother business operations.
